Exosome Treatment

A newer treatment, described at its actual age.

Exosomes are signalling particles applied to support skin repair, usually alongside microneedling. Promising, increasingly used, and younger in evidence than the treatments it accompanies.

Exosomes are very small vesicles that cells use to send signals to one another. In skin treatment they are applied to carry those signals to skin cells, with the intention of supporting repair, hydration and overall skin quality.

In practice they are almost always used with a treatment that creates channels in the skin — microneedling most often — because the exosome solution has to reach past the surface to do anything at all. A session commonly runs 30 to 60 minutes, and a course is normally recommended rather than a single treatment.

Where the evidence stands

This is the part most pages leave out, so it is worth being direct. Exosome science is active and the laboratory rationale is genuine. The published clinical evidence in aesthetic skin treatment is still smaller and more recent than the evidence behind microneedling, retinoids or sun protection.

That does not make it a bad treatment. It makes it a newer one, and it means the honest description is that it appears to support the results of the treatment it is combined with, rather than that it independently reverses ageing.

If you want the treatment on this page with the strongest evidence base behind it, it is not this one — and we would rather tell you that than sell you the newest thing in the room.

Who it suits, and afterwards

It is most often chosen by people already having microneedling who want to support the recovery and the skin-quality result, and by people whose main concern is texture, dullness and overall skin condition rather than a single defined problem.

Afterwards, expect the response that belongs to the treatment it was combined with: mild redness and warmth for a day or two if microneedling was used. The skin looks better within days; anything regenerative develops over the following weeks and across a course.

Sun protection afterwards is not an upsell. Treated skin that is then exposed reliably undoes part of what you paid for.

Frequently Asked Questions

Almost always alongside a treatment that opens channels in the skin, most often microneedling, because the solution needs to get past the surface to have any effect.

The laboratory rationale is genuine and the field is active, but the published clinical evidence in aesthetic skin treatment is younger and smaller than for microneedling or retinoids. We would rather you knew that before booking.

A course rather than a single session, with the number agreed at your consultation based on your skin and what you are treating.

It follows the treatment it is combined with. With microneedling, mild redness and warmth for a day or two is usual.

Skin usually looks better within days. The regenerative element develops over the following weeks and across the course, not overnight.

No. Daily sun protection and a consistent routine do more for long-term skin quality than any course of in-clinic treatment, this one included.
