EMS Body Sculpting

It builds muscle. That is the claim, and it is the whole claim.

Electromagnetic stimulation that produces intense muscle contractions to build tone and definition in a treated area, over a course of sessions.

EMS body sculpting uses electromagnetic pulses to trigger muscle contractions that are far more intense and far more frequent than the ones you can produce voluntarily.

The applicators are positioned over the target muscles — most often the abdomen, glutes or arms — and you lie still while the session runs, typically around 30 minutes. It is non-invasive, there are no incisions, and you return to your day immediately.

What it is for, and what it is not for

It is for muscle tone and definition in a specific area. If your abdominal muscles are there but not defined, this works on that.

It is not a weight loss treatment, and this is the point where expectations most often go wrong. It does not remove a meaningful amount of fat, and muscle definition built underneath a layer of fat is not visible through it. If fat reduction is your goal, a different treatment on this site addresses that, and we would rather direct you there than take payment for a course aimed at the wrong tissue.

It also does not replace training. It complements a routine, and the people who get the most from it are the ones already active. Nothing about a 30-minute session substitutes for the cardiovascular and metabolic effects of exercise.

Safety, and who should not have it

This treatment works by generating a strong electromagnetic field, which makes some contraindications absolute rather than cautionary.

It is not given to anyone with a cardiac pacemaker, implanted defibrillator, or other implanted electronic device, or with metal implants in or near the treatment area. Pregnancy, epilepsy, a recent surgery in the area and certain other conditions also need to be discussed before treatment.

Tell us about any implant or device at the assessment, even one you assume is irrelevant. This is the part of the consultation that is not a formality.

Afterwards you may feel much as you would after an intense workout of that muscle group. That settles quickly, and a course is recommended to build definition progressively.

The contractions are intense but not painful, and you lie still throughout. Afterwards you may feel much as you would after a hard workout of that muscle group.

A course, to build definition progressively. The number is set at your assessment based on the area and your starting point.

Muscle responds to use. Without maintenance sessions or training that works the same muscles, definition gradually reduces as it would after stopping any training programme.

We will discuss what you would like to achieve, explain how the treatment works and help you understand what you can realistically expect.
